We run inclusive community kindness events each month.

And you’re invited!!!

We’re all about spreading kindness, increasing mental health and decreasing social isolation.

We actively facilitate people getting to know each other and everyone is welcome.

Kindness Rocks – Rock Painting Event

    Toiletries Bags for Domestic Violence Survivors

    Location: Missy Moos Coffee – 410 Ross River Rd, in the Centacare building.

    Date & Time: Friday June 12th from 10.30am – 12pm

    Cost: FREE but we’d love you to bring a toothbrush and toothpaste to put in the bags

    Let’s get behind domestic violence survivors and show them that we care…
    • pack a toiletries bag with essentials (list below)
    • colour in a ‘Believe in Yourself’ card and add a personal message of support.

    We’ve had some beautiful handmade toiletries bags donated by Diligent Supports and created by a special client with a big heart. Please bring along a toothbrush and toothpaste to add to the bag. Other donations/ sponsors are very welcome. FREE event thanks to Missy Moos Coffee and Messages on Hold Townsville.

    No Stupid Questions – Wheelchair Edition

    Date & Time: Saturday April 11th from 2.00pm – 4:15pm

    Location: Missy Moos Coffee – 410 Ross River Rd, in the Centacare building.

    Cost: $25 per ticket

    Your ticket price includes a drink and nibbles, and a $10 donation to Queensland Disability Network.

    If you genuinely want to increase your empathy and understanding and sometimes kick yourself for saying the wrong thing (who doesn’t?!) then this is an event for you.

    Our brave special guest Danya Pilchowski is a 23 year old successful local artist and digital art teacher. Danya also happens to have multiple chronic health conditions, and often uses a wheelchair to get around.

     Come ask Danya about
    • what it’s like to use a wheelchair
    • the life of a a young artist
    • living with chronic health conditions
    •  what to or not to say to someone in a wheelchair
    •   and more…

    Genuine, supportive, inquisitive questions are welcome. This is an opportunity to grow and connect and of course, there are NO stupid questions.

    Your ticket price includes a drink and nibbles, and a $10 donation to Queensland Disability Network.

    You may have already met the bright and bubbly Danya at Popfest, Citilibraries, North Townsville Community Hub, or the Drill Hall, or local schools, or read the local children’s book illustrated by Danya ‘Pig and Roo go to Kathmandu’. Danya was a recent recipient of the RADF grant, and also taught at the Townsville University Hospital School.     Celebrate with us and brighten a child’s Christmas at the same time. We’re filling Santa Sacks for kids in need at Centacare 🥰

    Kindness Fun Day

    Date & Time: Tuesday, January 14th from 1pm – 3pm

    Location: Sticks & Grinds Cafe @ Woodlands Village Shopping Centre, 28 Palm Dr, Deeragun QLD 4818

    Have some fun with FREE fun kindness activities!

    •  Paint a Kindness Rock, Chalk some kind messages on the sidewalk and help create a Community Kindness Mural.
    • Kids can get their face painted (for a fee).
      There’s lots of fun for everyone! Children must be accompanied by an adult (adults- you can choose to either join in the fun or sit and have a cuppa at our the cafe)
    • Adults are welcome without kids too
    • Sticks and Grinds Cafe is a Kind Cafe- they host regular Kindness Events and have a Pay it Forward Board and a Words of Encouragement box available for community use.

    Kindness!

    All 3 finalists will have their poems shared on our socials and the Townsville Poetry Facebook page.

    Plus they get a chance to read their poem at our Christmas Art Market and Kindness Catalyst Merch Launch 1-4 Sat Nov 16 at Sticks and Grinds Cafe in Deeragun, where the winner will be announced. (don’t worry, we can also read it for you and you don’t have to be there to win 🙂 )


    Each finalist will win a cafe voucher kindly donated by Sticks and Grinds Cafe.
