If you genuinely want to increase your empathy and understanding and sometimes kick yourself for saying the wrong thing (who doesn’t?!) then this is an event for you.
Our brave special guest Danya Pilchowski is a 23 year old successful local artist and digital art teacher. Danya also happens to have multiple chronic health conditions, and often uses a wheelchair to get around.
Come ask Danya about
- what it’s like to use a wheelchair
- the life of a a young artist
- living with chronic health conditions
- what to or not to say to someone in a wheelchair
- and more…
Genuine, supportive, inquisitive questions are welcome. This is an opportunity to grow and connect and of course, there are NO stupid questions.
Your ticket price includes a drink and nibbles, and a $10 donation to Queensland Disability Network.
You may have already met the bright and bubbly Danya at Popfest, Citilibraries, North Townsville Community Hub, or the Drill Hall, or local schools, or read the local children’s book illustrated by Danya ‘Pig and Roo go to Kathmandu’. Danya was a recent recipient of the RADF grant, and also taught at the Townsville University Hospital School. Find out more about Danya and view classes and artworks at www.danyasdesigns.com.au
