Hi Everyone and Happy New Year!
We have had a nice break and it’s good to be back 😊
We are looking forward to spreading kindness again this year and I have lots of ideas brewing! If you have any suggestions/ feedback, we’d love to hear from you.
I really wanted to make sure everyone gets the opportunity to hear about our event 1-3 pm this Tuesday Jan 14 at Sticks and Grinds Café…
It’s a FREE Kindness Fun Day!
You’ll have the chance to join in FREE activities including Kindness Rock Painting, a Community Kindness Mural (which will be hung in the Café) and Kindness Sidewalk Chalking. There will also be Face Painting by Beachtown Creative Artist Mary-Clare Baker and food & drink available for purchase.
We’d love to see you there!
Here’s the Facebook link for more information…

And have also attached a flyer to this email (with pics from previous events)
Everyone is welcome, no matter what age, with or without kids. Kids will need to have an accompanying adult at the café please.
In February, we’ll be doing Thank You Thursday…
at our Kind Café Missy Moos Coffee. We’re inviting people to bring in a tea room treat (e.g. Tim Tams).
We’ll colour in Thank You cards, and we’ll create a gift hamper for the hard-working Oncology Team at Townsville University Hospital. (we’re still finalising dates) At this event, we’ll also be asking for any feedback or ideas you may have about Kindness Community Events.
Thanks so much to our sponsors Donna Glass- Helen Munro Property and The Kindness Fairy for helping us keep these events free or low cost.
I received some very exciting feedback late last year…
A young man had received a Pocket Hug card at a Speed Networking for Kindness event we ran.
And it was still in his wallet when he came across a homeless man.
He bought the man some groceries chatted with him a while, and then he handed the gentleman the Pocket Hug card.
The gentleman’s reply?
“Thank you so so much! I will keep this in my wallet and think of you every time I see it!”
Wow! What a great example of kindness- compassion, generosity, genuine caring conversation and the distance that a Pocket Hug can go.
(thanks so much to Danya’s Designs for all the kind artwork you create/donate for us www.thekindnesscatalyst.com.au)
I had another beautiful member of our Kindness Community helping some homeless people.
She asked me where she could refer them for help.
While I do have community connections, the Community Information Centre Townsville has excellent, up-to-date resources that everyone can access via their website.
I find these very useful and you may too.
Here is the link to their emergency/ crisis services flyer… https://www.cictownsville.com.au/services-and-publications/
The Kindness Catalyst was thrilled to receive…
special recognition at Smart Precinct NQ’s end of year function.
I personally really appreciate the mentorship, training and advice we have received from Shelly and the team.
They are a not-for-profit organisation and you can check them out at https://spnq.org/
It’s been awesome to see…
The Table NQ Business Networking and Smart Precinct NQ redirecting surplus event food to community organisations.
It was so nice to help facilitate this.
Thanks guys!
Here is a poem that one of our…
Kindness Community wrote after the Mental Health Week event we ran last year.
Lynda is a member of Townsville Poetry (which I also run) and has agreed for me to share this with you all.
Thanks so much Lynda!
Till next month, take care of yourself and enjoy spreading kindness…every little bit makes a difference.
“The Kindness Catalyst” by Lynda D Campbell
With open arms and tender grace,
It lights the corners of each space,
A smile exchanged, a helping hand,
The kindness spark, a chain so grand.
In crowded streets and silent homes,
Where silent sorrow often roams,
A stranger’s glance, a word well-spoken,
Can mend the hearts that feel half-broken.
Yet kindness blooms when you least expect,
A glance, a nod, a small connect,
The catalyst for change it brings,
Transforming lives with her unseen wings.
For kindness is a wondrous seed,
That grows in hearts and meets the need,
It spreads like ripples on calm seas,
Encouraging the heart to seize.
From kindness springs a deeper fate,
A web of love that can create
Connections rich, from soul to soul,
Together, we can feel more whole.
So let us be the catalysts,
A kindness wave that softly twists,
Through laughter shared and burdens eased,
In every heart, let kindness be released.
With every act, a brighter thread,
In tapestry of life we’re led,
Together we can make it last,
Kindness, our future, from the past.
Take care xx
