Hello Friends!

I am very fortunate to be writing to you this month from Magnetic Island.

We are currently house-sitting at Horseshoe Bay (tough gig, I know, but someone’s gotta do it!)

This morning I was fortunate to…

meet the lovely John from the Magnetic Island Coconuts Facebook page.

John is a very talented artist who paints coconuts with island scenes and leaves them around Magnetic Island and Townsville for people to find and enjoy.

How nice is that?!

And yes, I did get a beautiful painted coconut.

This week I was invited to speak on Star 106.3 with…

Jack and Dannii- again!

I am so so grateful that they are spreading the kindness message on prime drive time.

I love when we chat off-air how genuinely excited they are about kindness and how they love to get Pocket Hugs to give to their friends and colleagues.

While on air, I shared a short story about how I found out that when I left a Pocket Hug under someone’s windscreen wiper, it was just what they needed that day and helped them restore their faith in humanity.

Wow!

Even better, a listener heard this and was inspired to do a kind act of their own, buying food supplies for a stranger in need.

How beautiful!

I love the way kindness creates ripples that spread far.

I’d like to thank our sponsors…

  • the very generous Donna Glass from Helen Munro Property and
  • The Kindness Fairy
(we have a new anonymous sponsor!!!)

Much gratitude to our sponsors- you help make our kindness events accessible to everyone, which is how they should be xxx

Last month we had a Mental Health Week Mood Booster…

at our Kind Café Missy Moos Coffee.

The lovely Sarah from Angel Paws came along with some irresistible puppies- they were of course a huge hit with all of us and half the Centacare staff (Missy Moos is located in the Centacare building at 410 Ross River Rd, Cranbrook).

We then played Feel Good Bingo- we created our own bingo sheets out of lists of things that lift our mood and swapped them with friends.

It was uplifting to hear both new and shared ideas for lifting our mood.

Thanks to Missy Moos for your café prize vouchers.

Next, we coloured in ‘Have an Awesome Day’ cards, wrote on them and filled them with treats, to give to random strangers.

We actually got feedback on our FB page that very same day…

‘A nice little gift left on my car windscreen at the shops today. How lovely to receive this!’

Did you know that next week is World Kindness Week?

There’s much excitement in The Kindness Catalyst house.

We already have a poetry comp running.

Send us a poem about Kindness and you could win one of 3 prizes.

Every finalist wins a voucher to our Kind Café Sticks and Grinds Café in Deeragun, plus either a Kindness Kit or a Treat Bundle.

And they will get their poem published on the Townsville Poetry FB page and The Kindness Catalyst FB page, plus they’ll get to read their poem at our event on Sat 16 (or have us read it for you if you prefer).

Entry is free, just email me at fiona@thekindesscatalyst.com.au before 5pm Sunday Nov 10.

Wednesday the 13th is World Kindness Day, and…

Steve (my partner in crime kindness) and I will be out in force, Kindness Bombing Townsville!

We’re so pumped for this!!!

We’ll be dropping over 50 little Random Acts of Kindness packs around town, and handing out chocolates at the shopping centre bus stops.

Our Kind Cafes- Missy Moss and Sticks & Grinds- will also be handing out Pocket Hugs to every customer.

Perhaps you’d like to do a Random Act of Kindness too?…

One easy way is to write an anonymous kind message on a post it note and stick it on someone’s desk with a small treat.

On Saturday Nov 16 we’d love you to…

come down and join us from 1-4pm at Sticks and Grinds Café for our Christmas Art Market and Kindness Catalyst Merchandise Launch…

The 3 Kindness Poetry Competition finalists will read their poems and we’ll announce the winner

We’ll have local and award-winning artists and authors exhibiting their wares and chatting about how they got into art.

There will be plenty of unique Christmas gifts.

You can meet Danya from Danya’s Designs- the local illustrator and digital artist/ teacher who designed our Pocket Hugs and is helping us with our other merchandise.

Speaking of merchandise, we’re launching some!!!!

We’re very proud to have 2 unique Kindness Kits for sale in the leadup to Christmas…

  • a Pick-me-up Pack (great to give to a friend who is down or sick or simply as a gift or a thank you) and
  • a Kindness Activity Pack for 2 (this contains 10 random act of kindness activities for 2 people to do together).

There’s lots of custom art inside and all the profits will help fund our kindness events, so please come and check out what we’ve produced.

Everyone will have the opportunity to write some words of encouragement on a Pocket Hug card to give to someone.

Please come along and bring friend to support us and buy a cuppa at our Kind Cafe Sticks and Grinds Cafe (and check out their Pay it Forward Board and Kind Words Box).

I hope to see you there!

Meanwhile, take care everyone xxx
