Hi there!😊

As I write this it’s…

Loneliness Awareness Week.

Did you know that 1 in 3 Australians feel lonely at any given time?

For many reasons…like illness, redundancy, giving birth, moving house, caring for a loved one, aging and many more. It happens to all of us. I work mostly from home and I often miss seeing people. It’s part of the reason I started The Kindness Catalyst.

At The Kindness Catalyst, we really value connection.

This week I’ve been chatting with the lovely Carmen Delaney from Wellways NQ Suicide Prevention who is organising some community coffee chats at the Kind Cafes. Keep an eye on our socials for details. If you’d like to be part of a regular community coffee chat, please let us know.

All the events we run have 3 criteria:

  1. Spread kindness (of course)
  2. Connect people
  3. Be affordable

If you have an idea for a kindness event you’d like to attend, please let us know. We’re currently planning lots of events and we’d love your feedback.

Recent events have included School Holiday Kindness Rock Painting at Sticks and Grinds Café in Deeragun, and a Chalk Walk n Talk in Bushland Beach, where we had fun in the park writing kind messages in Chalk.

On Wed August 14 we have a Speed Networking for Kindness Event.

Come along and meet some friendly faces. It’s great if you prefer a more 1:1 approach to networking or just love to have a good chat. $10 from each ticket will be donated to Althea Projects to help with their homelessness, foster care and emergency kids respite accommodation services. It’s $20 a ticket and food and drink are available for purchase at Bakehouse on Eyre Cafe. We’d love you to join us. Below is the booking link. (we do have limited places, due to the style of event)

Have you heard about The Samaritan Angels?

Around 20 girls/volunteers from St. Margaret Mary’s College meets once a fortnight after school to sew kind gifts for our community. I was privileged to be invited to meet with the girls recently (they are lovely!) and see some of their work including superhero capes for kids at Townsville University Hospital and felt hearts to spread kindness through the 1000 Heart Project and much more. They gifted me some hearts to share through The Kindness Catalyst. Some are already being shared at Sticks and Grinds Café, our Kind Cafe in Deeragun.

And, last but not least,we have a new café in The Kind Café Network.

Please show some love to Nicki from Missy Moos Coffee, located at 410 Ross River Road, Cranbrook, in the blue Centacare building. You can now Pay it Forward while enjoying some of Nicki’s delicious homemade treats and add/ take a kind message on the board of Pocket Hug cards (thanks @danyasdesigns). We have it on good authority that Nicki is already a super-caring presence in the Centacare building- so we think she’s the perfect fit for The Kindness Catalyst.

Until next month, take care of yourself and be uplifted that kind people really are everywhere.

Fiona x

P.S. Here’s a pic of The Samaritan Angels…
