Hiya all!😊

Well that’s May done and dusted.

We’re proud to say that, though we spent half of it with the flu (big bear hugs if that’s you now) we continued to move forward with our mission for kindness.

Community response has been amazing!!! A few highlights…

The Samaritan Angels at St. Margaret Mary’s College…

have offered to make us felt hearts to hand out at events (love this!). I’ve been asked to speak to Zonta Groups (love the way you empower women and girls). The Townsville Bulletin ran a super-supportive huge article in their Weekender magazine (thanks so much Elaine Wilson for your kind words). We’ve had offers of man hours and collaborations.

I met with the lovely Carmen Delaney…

Wellways NQ Suicide Prevention Community Development Coordinator- and we connected on all things kindness and suicide prevention, particularly the power of connection. Every Kindness Catalyst event is designed with connection in mind. Looking forward to supporting each other.

A beautiful retiree called Betty…

called me up just to offer encouragement. So nice! She was particularly happy to see the Pay it Forward at the Kind Cafes. Betty loved the anonymity of donations, from one stranger to another, regardless of circumstances, and reiterated how even the smallest act of kindness can make some one’s day, helping them feel valued and less alone.

The Kind Cafes…

are now doing Pay it Forward to EVERYONE (not just a specific demographic)…you never know who will be next. I am told that recipients have been surprised and grateful and it’s been a lot of fun for the staff too.

BH Cafe AKA Bakehouse on Eyre Cafe…

is currently collecting donations for Althea Projects. Althea Projects offers homelessness support at Althea Community Hub, foster and kinship carer support, emergency respite care for kids and many other services. BH Cafe is also hosting a Speed 1:1 Business Networking event to raise money for Althea Projects on Tuesday June 11. It’s a lot of fun and very effective. We have just 3 places remaining if you’re keen to come here is the link… https://events.humanitix.com/speed-1-1-networking-for-althea-projects

Sticks and Grinds Cafe…

collected food and donations for their local community centre North Townsville Community Hub (NOTCH) to help them provide much needed food relief services. Until the end of Sunday, they’re donating $1 from every large drink purchase to help Archie, a lovely local boy with a rare cancer who has to relocate with his family for treatment.

Mt. Joy Cafe…

has created a gorgeous kindness station and have thrown open their Pay it Forward board with access to everyone- this means that not only can you purchase a Pay it Forward, but you can also take one and redeem it at the front counter. Love this!

Are you looking for some school holiday activities?

Kindness Rock Painting is on June 24 at Sticks and Grinds Cafe. Paint a rock for a friend or family or hide it in your community. It’s easy with our examples and Posca Paint Pens. This is an all ages event. Book here… https://events.humanitix.com/copy-of-kindness-rocks-school-holiday-rock-painting-session

Chalk Walk n Talk…

is on again in July. We’re hitting Peggy Banfield Park in Bushland Beach. At 9 am we’ll start chalking up designs at the Lions playground, and walk around the park adding more kind messages at the skate park and the footy club, then return to where we started to have morning tea (BYO). This is an all ages, free, accessible event.

Thanks again for spreading kindness, you’ll never know how far your ripples go.

Fiona
